Hello J.J.,Perhaps someone else has evidence that Crookes developed the CRT to learn about the afterlife, but I don’t know anything about it. He did develop a machine he called a “radiometer” to measure electromagnetism (such as light) that might be around mediums if there were any. Perhaps his work with the radiometer influenced his work on the CRT, photography, wireless telegraphy, and electricity in general. You’re correct that he was initially a debunker, but became completely convinced after working with Home and Florence Cook. He joins a long list of debunkers who became convinced when they sat with reputable mediums. You wrote, My understanding is that these séances were repeatable experiments, the scientific method, and that they took photographs, made plaster casts of limbs, and even collaborated fingerprints with existing police records and so on. Yes, that’s what’s most remarkable about them. The séances were set up intentionally, with known participants, at specific times, in specific places. Skeptics and debunkers were able to set up the surroundings themselves, inspect all parts of the rooms, and sit in on the séances. With Leslie Flint, they devised all manner of controls, including having him hold a colored liquid in his mouth so he couldn’t talk during the séance, taping his mouth shut, taping him to the chair, and putting a throat microphone on him so even the smallest utterance would be detected. In all of the hundreds of experiments, he was found to never be speaking, but voices came out of the air around him. Many skeptics and debunkers became believers. The séances are the perfect opportunity to prove the existence of the afterlife, but most scientists are too arrogant or ignorant to perform the studies. You wrote, Having a means to access the Afterlife in every home, at the flick of a switch, would have literally turned the entire world upside-down. Organised religion would not be possible. I doubt very much that all the wars and consequent suffering of the last 100 years could have been possible. The world today would be a very different place indeed. Yes, you’re right. If scientists and funders of scientific inquiry weren’t so frightened that their worldviews might be upset, we would have explored the afterlife more over the last two centuries and today we might have methods of communication that would be accessible to anyone. We just have to grow out of the ignorance as a society. You wrote, The way these Afterlife speakers explain where they live, separately to the Earth plane, is analogous to the way different radio frequencies exist separately without direct contact. It's basically a difference in wave characteristic, which is the same principle as a radio or television tunes into different TV channels. And if the telly was originally intended as an ACD, it would account for all the EVP that people report is possible when tuned between the channels into static. Those in the afterlife describe it as being on different “vibrations.” That fits the conception that many different universes exist and are accessible right here, right now, but we just need to change our mind’s vibrations or develop an instrument that can detect the different vibrations. Love and peace, Craig
