Hello David,You asked,
Is there a certain type of dialogue that may be best to pursue, or simply talk as I would if I could visually appreciate them in the room? Does it matter whether I say it out loud or merely think it?
Yes, speak normally, as you would if you could see them. They’re there with you. You can envision them sitting across from you. Then close your eyes and relax. Listen. You’ll get impressions about what they’re telling you.
You can also communicate with them quietly, in your mind. Close your eyes in meditation. Relax. Then envision them and speak openly. Wait for any response. Don’t worry about whether it’s imagination. Any medium or psychic will tell you that the messages feel like imagination because they’re much akin. Don’t try to separate them out. You’ll impede the messages.

Also, in having listened to a few of the recordings of David Thompson's and I find it very fascinating, the descriptions from those physically departed ones, in describing when they first realized their situation. It seems that there is a learning curve so to speak that each spirit must evolve through.
Yes. Listen to the accounts of people’s passing on my Web site at http://adcguides.com/afterlife1.htm.

I was wondering, how does the spirit or spirits know when they are being called? Do they hear some sort of bell or chime, or do they simply hear their name?
It’s just the thought. It’s much like your suddenly having the thought about a friend or loved one who lives a distance away. The thought of them just enters your mind. That’s what happens when you think about them. They receive your thought in the same way.
You asked,
What would cause some spirits to respond more than others? Is it practice? Is it their own coming to grips with their spiritual reality?
It’s as difficult for them to contact us as it is for us to contact them. How many people do you know who are mediums? It’s the same with them. For them to be able to contact you at will, they’d have to be mediums on their side. There just aren’t very many people who can get through. However, we increase the likelihood when we create the conditions that make it more likely WE can hear. It’s really our inability to listen to someone else’s thoughts that’s a stumbling block. When we work at hearing, it’s more likely we’ll be able to do so.

I ask this because my mother was always a very conservative Protestant Christian, and her particular beliefs while in the physical realm did not recognize an afterlife until "The Second Coming of Jesus", and was forbidden certainly to make attempts to contact spirits. It all seems somewhat convoluted.
She’ll grow out of that. For a time, she may cling to the old beliefs. She’ll be around others who share the beliefs. There are even people who think they’re “sleeping” waiting to come back to Earth at the judgment day. But they eventually grow out of that and go on with their lives.
Love and peace, Craig
