Hello Johanna,

You asked,
Where do we go to in our deepest sleep at night when we don't even know anymore we are alive in this reality?

Our consciousness, our mind, goes into the same other realm where creativity comes from. It doesn't have the boundaries and constraints the waking self imposes on us. It's more like being in the place where writers create novels, artists paint masterpieces, and musicians write symphonies. There, unbridled and free, our selves create tapestries using our everyday thoughts, including both joys and fears, into dramas.

We also know from those on the next plane of life that we go to be with them during the sleep state. We just don't remember it. However, many in the afterlife describe the fact that we visit with them during sleep.

You asied,
Why can't we remember.

We must live our lives and learn our lessons on our own. Our struggles and victories must come thorugh our own free will. That's how we learn. If we were able to receive strong guidance or were able to have over-the-breakfast-table conversations with them at will, we would be less likely to take responsibility for our actions. We'd rely on them for direction and guidance. That wouldn't be good for us. We don't remember our times with them during sleep because that's important for us to remain independent and learn lessons.

I often thought it was similar when we died, we would slip into unconsciousness to never wake up till maybe we'd reincarnate.

Yes, the death process is actually very easy. People who speak about their deaths on the other side don't mention pain or struggle. They just transitioned into the next life.

Do we lose our memory/consciousness for a while prior to coming back?

I'm not sure if you mean at death. At death, if we need to adjust to the new life on the other side, we may go through a period of sleep, usually described as around three days. When we waken, we have all of our memories and attitudes. We have our personality. We are completely ourselves, just without bodies. We don't forget anything, although we don't recall anything gruesome about our deaths.

Remember that when we transition into the next plane of life, all that happens is that we drop off the body. Our minds are not in the body, so nothing changes about whom we are. We are just the same person after death as before.

Love and peace, Craig
