Higher perspective on politics

Hi, Craig. Yesterday I read your material about Christianity, and the theme of seeking unity rather than division (sheep v. goats) struck a chord with me. Indirectly, it made me think of current politics and the extreme us v. them mentality. I find myself wondering what advice, if any, the higher spirits might offer on how to be an effective citizen in a world like ours.

I can't make it through a day without hearing a very disturbing nastiness all around me regarding politics. I see lies preached with great passion (from both sides) and children trained by parents to support party lines no matter what. I see people who propose reason and moderation within their own party excoriated for daring to suggest that there might be valid points on the other side. At least this is the way it works in my part of the country.

So I find myself torn. One instinct says, "Responding will only increase the rancor. Be silent and pray." Another instinct says responsible and reasonable citizens must speak up (with respect) for truth or watch the world increasingly swayed by whomever lies with the greatest passion and stagecraft--and ultimately whomever tells the lies they want to believe.

What guidance might we get from those souls who live well above the fray? How can those us who hope to promote our collective spiritual evolution best serve as citizens of this world?

Thanks,
Donna Baker

P.S. Thanks again for the time you've taken to help me with my questions about my haunted "laboratory."
