Hi Robin,

Everything is learned. The Earth plane is just one of millions of spiritual planes. We are having a brief period of Earth school in which we're learning the lessons this Earth school, at this time in Earth's history, with these people we've chosen to be with, in these circumstances. Our higher selves, the eternal selves we are, chose this setting for us to learn the lessons we need to learn: trust, love, compassion, other-centeredness, closeness to the Higher Power, and the other areas of spiritual growth.

We only grow spiritually by learning lessons, one lesson at a time. Every experience helps us mature just a little. Dramatic changes, such as having a loved one die or facing death ourselves or having a near-death experience, cause us to learn a great lesson in a short time.

As we go through eternity, we continue to grow just as we're growing here, in tiny steps. We have experiences on other spiritual planes after we leave this one, and we learn lessons by what happens. There are no magical changes. We don't simply "become" more loving or compassionate. We have experiences and we're taught by witnessing other people have experiences. Over time, we grow spiritually in that way. All of eternity involves growing and becoming, but it is all in the same small steps we're growing in right now.

Our eternal growth is unique to us as individuals. The Higher Power or Universe or Source works with each of us individually, in ways no other person has ever experienced. It is a very personal, loving guidance. And so, we're given guidance as we grow here, and all we have to do is listen to it. Then, when we transfer onto another plane, we'll continue to be given guidance, and it's up to us whether we want to listen and grow. We always have free will. We never suddenly become different and are never required to be something we're not.
