Yes, that's true. But somewhere along the way toward becoming a progressed old soul, they went through the small steps of growing just as everyon else does. It's just that they've gone through hundreds of lifetimes to get where they are. It may have been 50 or 100 lifetimes ago that they were working on overcoming their tendency to become angry or their lack of compassion. They had to learn those lessons just as we all do, one lesson at a time.

You wrote, "I have heard that people who are born into this life with great physical or mental disabilities are spiritually advanced."

I don't know of anyone speaking from the other side who has suggested that. Anything is possible, of course. I would just want to have the testimony from a number of people in the afterlife stating that it's true before I accepted it.
