sadness in the afterlife?

Hi Craig -
Just as people on earth feel extreme sadness and separation when someone dies, do those who are in the afterlife initially feel these same feelings? If we are exactly the same person after dying, it would seem to me we would also mourn a loss for those we left behind on earth.
